Publisher Terms and Conditions Glossary

This list of terms used in our Publisher Terms, as well is in the Recast Terms & Conditions and various policies. It is intended as a useful guide only. The terms will have the relevant document, as applicable.

Channels | In section 2.2 of the Publisher Terms, “About Recast” | The public-facing channels of Publishers, which include a collection of Videos they have shared or published from their Publisher Account to be viewed and watched by Fans. |
Channel Admins | In section 4.5(b) of the Publisher Terms, “How we refer to Users, and which terms apply” | An individual User who is granted admin access by an Owner on behalf of a Publisher to manage a Channel and publish Videos on the Publisher’s behalf. |
Channel Details | In section 8.6(e) of the Publisher Terms, “Registering a Publisher Account” | The name, logo and cover image of a Publisher’s Channel. |
Channel Pass | In section 5.4 of the Publisher Terms, “Other Key terminology” | A pass that will allow the Fan to watch all of the Videos made available by the Publisher on a specific Channel for a specified period. |
Channel Pass Period | In section 13.3 of the Publisher Terms, “Channel Passes” | The 1, 3, 7 or 28-day period for which the Channel Pass is operational for the purchasing Fan, after which point it will expire. |
Competitor | In section 29.1 of the Publisher Terms, "Limits on using similar platforms" | Any platform, technology, or business other than Recast which makes audio-visual material available to the public on a pay-per-view basis, or in return for micropayments, in each case where facilitated by a digital in-app or in-platform currency. |
Content | In section 5.1 of the Publisher Terms, “Other Key terminology” | All videos, audio content, live stream video and audio content, images, graphics, pictures, text, messages, emojis, reactions, sounds, information, applications, code, data, materials or any other content in whatever format and whether known now or invented in the future. |
Cooling-Off Period | In the Refund Policy, “Consumer rights to refunds for purchased Cast Credits” | This is the 14-day period after a consumer purchases Cast Credits on the Platform, during which they are entitled to cancel the purchase and claim a refund for any unused Cast Credits. |
Earnings | In the “Published Videos” section of the Publisher Earnings Policy | The money which a Publisher can earn from Views of their Videos in accordance with the Publisher Earnings Policy. |
Earnings Statement | In section 20.2 of the Publisher Terms, “Standard Invoicing Process” | The statement issued to Publishers after they make a Payment Request, showing all Earnings calculated up to the end of the previous month which are eligible to be cashed-out from a Publisher’s Wallet’s Earnings Total. |
Earnings Total | In section 11.2 of the Publisher Terms, “Earnings” | The current amount of Earnings which a Publisher has earnt and which have accrued to their Publisher Wallet but have not yet been cashed out. |
Fan | In section 4.1 of the Publisher Terms, “How we refer to Users, and which terms apply” | A User with a Fan Account who can therefore view Videos in full, and earn, purchase and redeem Cast Credits. |
Fan Account | In section 4.1 of the Publisher Terms, “How we refer to Users, and which terms apply” | A Recast account set up by a User to give them access to the Fan Site as a Fan. |
Fan Content | In section 5.2 of the Publisher Terms, “Other Key terminology” | Any Content submitted by a Fan which is published on the Fan Site by the Fan using any of the services we make available to them via the Fan Site (including the Live Chat functionality). Fan Content includes any aspects of a Fan’s Platform ID which will be displayed on the Fan Site and seen by other Users when viewing certain live stream Videos). |
Fan Details | In the "Other Key Terminology" section of the Recast Terms & Conditions | The information a Fan submits to the Platform when signing-up for a Fan Account (including their Platform ID), when updating their Account details, or when responding to optional requests from us to provide further personal information. |
Fan Site | In section 2.1 of the Publisher Terms, “About Recast” | The Recast application available at https://the.recast.app and https://watch.recast.tv through which Users are able to watch Videos. |
Fee | In the “Published Videos” section of the Publisher Earnings Policy | Recast’s Fee deducted on each View of a Publisher’s Video, as charged in accordance with the Schedule of Tariffs (which may be varied from time to time). |
Live Chat | In section 5.6 of the Publisher Terms, “Other Key terminology” | The ‘live chat’ functionality made available to Fans during certain live streamed Videos. |
Owner | In section 4.5(a) of the Publisher Terms, “How we refer to Users, and which terms apply” | A named User who is primarily responsible for a Publisher Account. This individual accepts the Publisher Terms for and on behalf of the Publisher during the Publisher Onboarding Process. |
Payment Request | In section 20.1 of the Publisher Terms, "Cashing out & self-billing" | A request by a Publisher for payment of their Earnings on the Platform. |
Platform | In section 2.8 of the Publisher Terms, “About Recast” | The Fan Site, (including versions of it available via a Publisher Environment or other Third Party Platform), Recast Publish and any other websites, software applications and technologies owned by Recast. |
Price | In section 5.9 of the Publisher Terms, “Other Key terminology” | The number of Cast Credits a Fan needs to redeem to View any Video or obtain a Channel Pass (as applicable). |
Protected Work | In section 25 of the Publisher Terms, “Notification of infringing Content” | Any Content made available on the Platform which a User believes constitutes infringement of another party’s intellectual property rights |
Publisher Account | In section 2.2 of the Publisher Terms, “About Recast” | An account set up by a Publisher to give them access to Recast Publish. |
Publisher Account Details | In section 8.6(a) of the Publisher Terms, “Registering a Publisher Account” | The Publisher’s full name and address (where the Publisher is an individual) or the registered name and address of the Publisher, its country of registration, and its registered number (where the Publisher is an entity). |
Publisher Content | In section 5.3 of the Publisher Terms, “Other Key terminology” | Any Content which a Publisher decides to upload, stream, publish or otherwise make available on the Fan Site for other Users to view. |
Publisher Environment | In section 2.5 of the Publisher Terms, “About Recast” | A website, app or other digital platform onto which the Fan Site is embedded. |
Publisher Onboarding Process | In section 8.4 of the Publisher Terms, “Registering a Publisher Account” | The process by which Recast onboards new Publishers to the Platform, as further described in the Publisher Terms. |
Publishers | In section 2.2 of the Publisher Terms, “About Recast” | Person or entities who are granted Publisher status by Recast and, as such, have the right to have one or more Channels on the Platform on to which they can upload Videos. |
Publisher Terms | In section 1 of the Publisher Terms, “Welcome” | Recast’s Terms and Conditions for Publishers, as updated from time to time. |
Quarter | In section 20.1 of the Publisher Terms, "Cashing out & self-billing" | A three month period commencing on the first day of January, April, July or October of each year. |
Recast iFrame Widget | In section 5.5 of the Publisher Terms, “Other Key Terminology” | The functionality of Recast Publish which may be made available to some Publishers which will offer those Publishers the ability to embed an iFrame widget within their Publisher’s Environment so that their Videos or Channels can be viewed from there via a Recast owned window which will appear on the Publisher’s Environment. |
Recast T&Cs | In section 4.6 of the Publisher Terms, "How we refer to Users, and which terms apply" | The Recast Terms & Conditions (which apply to all Users of the Platform) as updated from time to time. |
Recast Publish | In section 2.2 of the Publisher Terms, “About Recast” | The website from which Publishers can create Channels, upload and publish Publisher Content, and manage their Channels and Publisher Account. |
Refund | In section 22.2 of the Publisher Terms, “Refunds” | The amount of Cast Credits returned or money refunded or paid to a Fan in respect of an Unsatisfactory Video. |
Replay | In section 5.10 of the Publisher Terms, “Other Key terminology” | A repeated/subsequent View of a Video by a Fan who has already redeemed Cast Credits to View it. |
Share & Earn | In the Reward Policy | The functionality which allows a User to receive a share of the Price of a Video when another Fan Views a Video as a result of them sharing a link to the Video (or for Publishers only, as a result of them sharing the Video on their Channel). |
Tag & Split | In section 12.12 of the Publisher Terms, "Setting “Rules” for your Videos” | The functionality which allows Publishers to split the amounts they earn when Fans redeem Cast Credits to watch their Videos with other Publishers who have contributed to their Videos on the Platform. |
Third Party Platforms | In section 2.6 of the Publisher Terms, “About Recast” | Third party websites, applications and digital TV platforms through which the Fan Site (or bespoke versions of it) are made available or accessible. |
Third Party Properties | In section 31 of the Publisher Terms, "Third party links" | The websites, applications and/or other digital properties of third parties. |
Unsatisfactory Video | In the Refund Policy, “Return of Cast Credits for Unsatisfactory Videos” | A Video which did not meet Fan’s reasonable expectations. For example, if the length/content of the Video did not meet the description or the quality of a live stream was not of reasonably satisfactory quality. |
User | In section 4.1 of the Publisher Terms, “How we refer to Users, and which terms apply” | Any person who accesses or uses the Platform |
Videos | In section 2.1 of the Publisher Terms, “About Recast” | On demand videos, audio content and live streams uploaded by Publishers and made available to Users to watch or listen to on the Fan Site. |
View | In section 5.8 of the Publisher Terms, “Other Key terminology” | The action of a User watching a Video (or in the case of audio content, listening) beyond its preview. |
Wallet | In section 5.11 of the Publisher Terms, “Other Key terminology” | A virtual Recast wallet. For Fans, this is shown in their Fan Account and the indicates the Cast Credits currently available to them. For Publishers, this is shown in their Publisher Account on Recast Publish and indicates the Publisher’s current Earnings Total. |
