Monkey Barrel brings live comedy to Recast with Roast Battle – Edinburgh
07 March 2023
Edinburgh’s award-winning comedy club, Monkey Barrel, will launch its Recast channel tonight, with an exclusive live stream of Roast Battle - Edinburgh, the show that turns smack talk into an art form.
Roast Battle - Edinburgh will see top comedians including Mark Nelson, Marjolein Robertson and Krystal Evans go head-to-head, in a battle of verbal onslaughts. Six pairs of contestants will roast it out over 90 minutes, attempting to defeat their opponent with five ferocious jokes.
Comedy fans at home and abroad can catch the whole show, streaming live from 8.00pm to 9.30pm tonight on Monkey Barrel Comedy’s Recast channel, for 200 Cast Credits (£2.00).
Ahead of the show, Iain Campbell of Monkey Barrel Comedy, said:
“We are excited to be bringing Roast Battle - Edinburgh out of our comedy club and onto Recast. Finally this show will be in the homes of those who might not be able to join us otherwise. Accessibility is at the heart of the Monkey Barrel ethos and online streaming is a fundamental part of that process.”
Andy Meikle, CEO and Founder of Recast, said:
“We are delighted to welcome Monkey Barrel Comedy to present the first ever live comedy show on Recast. Having one of Edinburgh’s top comedy clubs taking advantage of the opportunities Recast offers venues, performers and producers across the entertainment industry to reach and monetise online audiences is a great milestone for us, as our expansion beyond sport continues.”
Monkey Barrel Comedy offers a jam-packed, year round programme of diverse and innovative comedy, and was recently crowned Scotland’s Best Venue at the 2023 Chortle Awards. The club has hosted some of the finest comedians from around the world, and is a major comedy venue for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
