Using Recast

Yes, it’s free for fans and publishers to join Recast. Fans will receive 25 free Cast Credits when they join. Cast Credits are Recast’s unique in-platform currency. Content is priced from just 1 Cast per minute (which is equal to 1p per minute). Casts can either be purchased or earned in-platform by watching ads, sharing videos or data, or by inviting friends to join.

Publishers (content creators and rights holders) can set up a channel for free on Recast by submitting the online ‘Request a channel’ form. Our team will get back to you asap with info on how to get started.

Joining Recast is easy to do and totally free. Simply click ‘join’, input some basic details or use your Facebook or Google login, we’ll send you a verification code via email to check you’re not a bot and that’s it – you’re in and can start watching content right away. We’ll give you 25 free Cast Credits just for signing up!

Complete your Data Profile and you’ll be rewarded with an additional 50 Cast Credits, and if you opt-in to share your anonymised data with our advertisers too, you’ll earn more Casts when you watch ads on Recast.

Recast may be available in your country or territory but some content may not. Publishers have complete control over the distribution and availability of their content on their channel and may choose to restrict some content to specific countries and regions only.

Recast is currently available in English, Italian, Spanish (both Spanish and South American Spanish), Portuguese (Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese), and Arabic. You can change the language in the settings tab of your Recast profile, by clicking on the ‘cog’ icon.

Yes! You can watch Recast content on your TV either by connecting your laptop via a cable to your TV, using Google Chromecast or Apple Airplay, or through the Recast Google TV app.

Yes! You can find Recast in the Google Play store and the Apple App store. We’re a progressive web app, so you can access us from any device and you can add us to your home screen like any other app.

On the Recast android app you can purchase and watch content, while our IOS and Google TV apps can be used to watch live and on-demand content that you have purchased in advance.

Because we’re a progressive web app, you can watch anything on Recast anytime, anywhere using your phone, tablet, or laptop. You can also watch content you’ve purchased on Recast via our Google TV app.

Share content from Recast and receive Cast Credits to your wallet when it’s purchased using your link. Tap the ‘Share & Earn’ icon on any piece of content you’ve watched to share a link to your friends via email, WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter or any other social sharing platform.

Every time someone watches content using your link, a percentage of the Cast Credits they pay to watch it will go straight into your Recast wallet. The number of Casts you’ll receive is based on the ‘share ratio’ set by the publisher that uploaded the content. You can check the share ratio via the ‘Share & Earn’ icon before you share the link.

Watch adverts on Recast and receive Cast Credits directly to your wallet. ‘Watch & Earn’ videos can be found through your Recast wallet. These are promotional videos from brands or advertisers. On Recast, it’s up to you whether you watch ads or not.

If you view a ‘Watch & Earn’ video, you will only earn the number of Cast Credits indicated once you have watched the full video. If you complete your Data Profile and opt-in to share your anonymised data with our advertisers, you’ll receive a higher number of Casts every time you watch an ad.

Invite friends to join Recast and you’ll receive Cast Credits when they do. You can invite friends via your unique share link (which can be found in your Recast wallet). Once they’ve signed up and purchased their first piece of content, you’ll receive 100 Cast Credits as a reward. The more people who join via your link, the more Cast Credits you’ll earn.

Casts Credits are a unique in-platform currency, used to purchase content on Recast. One Cast is equal to 1p. Casts can be purchased at any time or earned in-platform by watching adverts, sharing videos or data, or by inviting friends to join. Your Recast wallet shows how many Casts you have available to spend. Your Casts cannot be exchanged for a monetary equivalent, but if you think you have made a deposit in error, please contact us at customerservice@recast.tv.

You can join a live stream at any point when you’ve purchased it. If you’ve missed the start and the publisher has chosen to provide a replay, they are usually published between 2-3 hours after the event has finished.

Please note that replays are published at the discretion of the channel owner and may not always be available.
