Recast vs Twitch

What are the differences?

While Twitch and Recast both offer content creators a platform for live streaming their content, the functionality of the two platforms is very different. So what are the main advantages for content creators and streamers in using Recast over Twitch?

Earn for every single view

While Twitch’s Partner and Affiliate models require streamers to meet minimum numbers of streaming hours, followers and viewers before they can start to earn from their content, on Recast content creators get paid for every single view.

No subscription fees

Unlike Twitch’s subscription model, which on average sees the platform retain around 50% of revenue generated, Recast is subscription-free, which means that fans only pay for the content they want to watch on our platform, and publishers (content creators and streamers) retain up to 85% of the revenue generated by their content.

Powered by microtransactions.

On Recast, fans purchase content using Cast Credits, our unique in-platform currency. Casts can be purchased at any time, and can also be earned by watching ads, sharing content and data, and inviting friends to join.

More discoverable content

On Recast, publishers can make their content more discoverable by tagging everything they post with relevant content categories, enabling them to broaden their audience and reach new fans. Live streams and on demand content can be featured and previewed on Recast, and relevant channels will be recommended to fans based on their viewing preferences.

Collaborate with other creator

Recast provides unique functionality for collaborating and splitting earnings with partners through smart contracts. Whether you are streaming a live event or uploading a piece of collaborative content, you can easily set percentage splits between up to three publishers (content creators or rights holders) on Recast at any time. Once you have set a split, earnings will be split automatically according to the percentages you have agreed.

Incentivise fans and publishers to share your content

On Recast, you can make your content work harder for you by incentivising fans and other publishers to share it. Set a ‘share value’ for fans when uploading or scheduling a piece of content and they’ll earn Cast Credits every time your content is purchased via a link they’ve shared. Do the same for publishers and they will earn real world currency.
